More bad news due to the takeover of BMI by IAG (BA’s parent group). Although BA’s CEO, Willie Walsh, has gone on record as saying the London to Belfast flights are those that would be kept, it has been confirmed that the Belfast base will be closed. Around 60 customer service staff are being made redundant and 40 engineering and cabin crew will have their jobs relocated to London, or will suffer the same fate.
This isn’t surprising, after the recent announcement about Gatwick, but is sad news nonetheless.
